Installing the app

SkinAuto is a desktop application for Windows. There is no web version — the bot has to run on a machine that stays on, because it can only trade while it’s running.

Download & install

  1. Open the download page and get the Windows installer.
  2. Run the downloaded file and follow the prompts. The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” — click More info → Run anyway.
  3. Launch SkinAuto from your Start menu or desktop shortcut.

First launch

The app asks you to sign in with your SkinAuto account — the same one you use on this website. Your subscription follows the account, so signing in on a new machine restores your access.

Once you’re in, a setup panel walks you through the two things the bot needs — a Steam sign-in, and a market to trade on. You can do them in either order, or hit Skip for now and finish later from Steam and Operators. Details in Connecting Steam and Operators.

Keep it running

Closing the window doesn’t stop the bot. By default, clicking X sends SkinAuto to the notification area — the tray, by the clock — and it carries on buying, bidding and repricing. Right-click the tray icon to Open the window, start or stop buying or selling, or Exit.

A red dot on the tray icon means the bot is running; no dot means it is stopped.

You can change this in Settings → Keep running after closing:

  • On (the default) — closing the window leaves the bot running in the tray. Use Exit to quit for real.
  • Off — closing the window quits SkinAuto and stops the bot, cancelling your buy orders and removing your listings.

Either way SkinAuto has to be running to trade, so leave it on a machine that doesn’t sleep. It won’t start by itself when you log in — launch it yourself after a restart.

System requirements

  • Windows 10 or later (64-bit).
  • A stable internet connection.
  • A Steam account, plus an account on the market you want to trade on.

The app keeps itself current in the background — see Updates & support.

If the app won’t start or you hit an install error, check the FAQ or contact support from your account page.
