Getting started

SkinAuto is a Windows desktop app that trades skins for you. It watches a market’s live feed and buys listings that fall under your price, keeps standing buy orders on the book, and reprices what you list for sale — all inside limits you set.

What you need first

  • Windows 10 or later, 64-bit.
  • Your Steam account. This is the one hard requirement: Steam holds every item and confirms every trade, whichever market you trade on.
  • A market to trade on. There are two: market.csgo.com, which needs an account there and its API key; and the Steam Market itself, which needs no key at all but ships switched off, because trading on it goes against Steam’s rules and puts your main account at risk. Both are covered in Operators.
  • An active subscription, which is what unlocks trading.

The path

  1. Install the app — download the Windows installer and run it.
  2. Activate your subscription — bought and managed in the browser, on your account page.
  3. Connect Steam — sign in from the app, by QR code or password.
  4. Set up a market — open Operators and give it what it asks for. The app prompts you for this and Steam on first launch.
  5. Set up what to trade — add items to your buy and sell lists with your prices and limits.
  6. Start it. Buying and selling have their own start buttons in the sidebar.

Two things worth deciding early

Do you want the bot to accept your trades too? By default it buys, bids and lists — but every Steam trade still needs you to approve it on your phone, within minutes, or the trade fails. Switching on auto-confirm hands that job to the app — and if you’re coming from CounterBot or Steam Desktop Authenticator, you import your .maFile and skip the trade hold. It’s optional, and it has real consequences worth reading first: Auto-confirm & trade confirmations.

Start small. Every order the bot places is real. Begin with one item, a quantity of one and a max price you’d be happy to pay, and widen the list once you’ve seen it behave. It’s the cheapest way to find out that your max price was a typo.
